CM Pervez Khattak announces Women University in Mardan

KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has in principle approved establishment of Women University in Mardan. All subjects of science and arts with latest necessities will be arranged in the university. It will be setup in existing old campus of Abdul Wali Khan University at Main Mardan Road while the later has been shifted to its new campus near Platoo Village.
Decision to this effect were made in a meeting under his chairmanship at CM Sectt Peshawar that besides the Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan, VC AWKU Dr Ihsan Ali and other concerned authorities of higher education and C&W departments was also attended by MPAs of the area including Advisor to CM on Culture Zahid Durrani, Chairman DDAC Mardan Iftikha Mashwani, UbaidUllah Mayar, Tufail Anjum and Babar Saleem. The assembly members thanked the chief minister for this crucial step and revealed that people in the area were usually hesitant to send their women folk lonely to distant outside universities for higher education due to local Pakhtun traditions or because of immense poverty. They said elected reps in the past also endeavored for the purpose but were not listened. They rejoiced that now Pervez Khattak met a long standing demand of the area and caved a new history by opening doors of higher education for their female wards and enabling these talented girls to join the national mainstream of development.
Chief Minister said education and health are top most priority areas of present PTI-led coalition govt wherein emergencies have also been imposed in it with same purpose to promote it on war footings. He on demand of the MPAs assured that every effort would be made to start classes in this new university from new academic year. He also issued on spot directives to the authorities for the purpose. VC AWKU offered that his university could arrange women professors and lecturers for the start classes on adhoc basis but CM asked the higher education officials to work on permanent solution of the academic needs of the university.
